-       No need to carry a full set of clothes for every day. Wet clothes will have time to dry overnight.
-       Bring some light and comfortable shoes for the evenings.
-       Travel toiletry kit: replace huge bottles by mini sample products. Leave your weighting scales at home!!

-       Pack only 1 book. You have plenty of fulfilling days ahead of you with little time to read!
-       Label your bag with your name. (If applicable: with the name of the person who booked the trip)
-       “Debrief” your bag on your return, inventorying what you have used and what was unnecessary. Keep your notes for next time.

Minimum number of participants: 2
The trek can be taken as a couple, with a friend or with a group of friends, family or colleagues. You will be in charge of composing your own group, as for self-guided tour we will not be able to introduce you to any other independent hikers.

Our self-guided info packs contain local maps, a precise itinerary, tracks description and the list of accommodation. We will send it to you 3 weeks prior departure.

If you do not bring you own equipment, you can borrow it in Mont Noir Sports shop just beside the first accomodation. It is open from 08.30am to 06.00pm and we have negotiated a special price : 25€/person for 5 days. It is very important to bookyour equipment as soon as possible after receiving your booking confirmation. Call +33 (0)3 81 69 27 28.

Having the right kit can make a difference to your safety and enjoyment. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!
To be ready for all temperatures, we recommend the three layers system with a base layer, an insulation layer and an outer shell layer.
Avoid any cotton clothes as they take a long time to dry. Prefer wool, silk or any other breathable fabrics that will keep you dry and warm.
Remember to add a layer before feeling cold and to remove one before being hot. Sweat stays the enemy number one to any hikers as it will quickly give a frozen feel when you stop moving.

Bring imperatively :

Clothes
Walking boots: Boots should have good ankle support and tread and should be well worn in. Wear your new boots before starting a trek.
Walking socks: Wear thick socks to reduce the risk of blisters. Bring enough to always have one dry pair.
Waterproof jacket + Poncho: A breathable material is needed, e.g. Gore-Tex or a manufacturer's own. A hood is essential.A poncho is ideal in case of heavy rain.
Waterproof trousers: The more breathable the better, but this is less important than for the jacket.
Fleece and long sleeve sweater: Any walking holiday in Europe can be cold at times, even in high summer!
T-shirts / base layers: Breathable synthetic materials are recommended instead of cotton.
Walking trousers and shorts: Any light trousers are fine; avoid heavy cotton trousers or jeans that will hold water.
Hat – gloves - Scarf: Fleece or wool, these can be essential even in summer for keeping the extremities warm.
Light clothes and shoes for the evening
Swimming costume
Underwear

Other equipment
Rucksack: Typically between 35 and 40 liters for day walks.
Rucksack liner: Use a strong bin liner or other plastic bag inside your rucksack to protect against possible rain.
Sun cream (+ lip care): Use a high factor such as 20 or 30 and re-apply regularly throughout the day.
Sunglasses: To reduce glare from snow and light-coloured rock, these are essential all year round.
Sun hat: Wide brims help keep the sun off your face and neck.
Torch: Head torches are ideal to keep hands free; consider spare batteries and a spare bulb.
Pocket knife
Water flask (isothermal): 2 liters - more for very hot days with no chance to top up. Essential in winter as well as summer.
Toiletry travel kit
Mobile phone: For emergencies only while on a walk! Phones are also useful for logistics among groups.
Passport: Carry your passports and visas with you throughout your holidays.
First aid kit: Bring basic supplies for yourself including treatment for blisters.
Personal medication: Take all the personal medication you might need for the duration of the trip, plus few extras. We advise as well the following: Paracetamol, Aspirin, tablets for sore throat, plasters, disinfectant wipes, tweezers…
Earplugs
Toilet paper and a lighter
A Soft fibre trek towel
A survival blanket
